Devin Booker will remain the face of the Phoenix Suns for years to come. The franchise guard has agreed to a two-year extension worth $145 million, locking him in through the 2029–30 season.
The agreement makes history. At $72.5 million per year, Booker’s new salary becomes the highest annual figure ever signed in an NBA extension, edging past Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s previous mark of $71.25 million. The news was first reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The deal reflects both loyalty and legacy. Back in March, Booker stated his commitment to Phoenix, emphasizing his desire to finish what he started.
“I take pride in the community in Phoenix, the people that have supported me since I was 18 when things were ugly,” Booker told ESPN’s Tim MacMahon earlier this year. “We just fell short of accomplishing what we want. I want to do it here. That’s the responsibility of being a franchise player, and I wear that with honor.”
Booker, now 28, was drafted 13th overall in 2015 and has spent his entire career with the Suns. Over ten seasons, he has rewritten the team’s record books, including becoming the all-time leader in points scored.
In the 2024–25 campaign, Booker averaged 25.6 points, 7.1 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game, further proving his ability to shoulder the offensive load. His consistency stands out as well: he has now averaged at least 25 points per game for seven straight seasons, a streak matched only by Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The Suns and their fans now know the future is secure. Booker is not just a cornerstone of the roster, he is cementing his place as one of the defining players in the history of the franchise.
