Dallas Mavericks rookie phenom Cooper Flagg is trading jump shots for jokes. The 19-year-old rising star is officially set to make his late-night television debut as a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
If his performance under the bright lights of late-night TV is anything like his performance on the basketball court this season, fans are in for an absolute treat.
The Details: When and Who to Watch
Flagg will appear on the iconic NBC talk show on Monday, February 23, 2026, at 10:30 p.m. CST (11:30 p.m. EST).
He will be joining a star-studded lineup for the post-Olympics broadcast. The episode’s guest list also features comedian Tracy Morgan, Scream 7 actress Neve Campbell, and musical performances by the wildly popular South Korean girl group TWICE.
A Historic Rookie Campaign
It is incredibly rare for an NBA rookie to command this level of mainstream cultural attention, but Flagg’s debut season has been nothing short of historic. Drafted No. 1 overall out of Duke in the 2025 NBA Draft, the Newport, Maine native has quickly established himself as a true franchise cornerstone for the Mavericks.
Through his first 49 games, the 6-foot-9 forward is stuffing the stat sheet, averaging 20.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game. Dallas head coach Jason Kidd has frequently trusted the teenager with point-forward duties, allowing him to be the primary playmaker in clutch, late-game situations.
But the true catalyst for this national media tour has been Flagg’s record-breaking scoring outbursts:
-
The 49-Point Masterpiece: In late January, Flagg set the all-time NBA single-game scoring record for a teenager when he dropped a massive 49 points alongside 10 rebounds. That incredible performance made him the first NBA rookie to post a 49-and-10 stat line since Michael Jordan did it back in 1985.
-
Elite Company: Flagg also became the youngest player in league history to score 40 or more points. During a streak where he recorded four consecutive 30-point games, he became the first rookie since Allen Iverson in 1997 to score at least 150 points over a four-game stretch.
Injury Update
While his star is soaring off the court, Mavericks fans are eagerly awaiting his return to the hardwood. Flagg suffered a left midfoot sprain just before the NBA All-Star break, forcing him to miss the Rising Stars Challenge. He was recently seen getting shots up and progressing out of his walking boot, but he currently remains day-to-day as the Mavericks push through the second half of the season.
The “Maine Event” Goes Mainstream
A guest spot on Jimmy Fallon’s stage proves that Flagg’s rapid ascent extends far beyond traditional basketball circles. “The Maine Event” is officially becoming a household name.
Be sure to set your DVRs for Monday night to see the Mavericks’ teenage sensation take on the late-night spotlight!
