Good Omens Final Chapter Arrives May 13 on Prime Video as a Single 90-Minute Series Finale

Good Omens will conclude its run on Prime Video on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, with a single 90-minute series finale that serves as the third and final season of the acclaimed fantasy series. The episode, directed by Rachel Talalay and co-written by Peter Atkins, will bring to a close the story of angel Aziraphale and demon Crowley — portrayed by Michael Sheen and David Tennant, respectively — nearly three years after the Season 2 cliffhanger left fans waiting.

The finale picks up directly where Season 2 ended, with Aziraphale having accepted the role of Supreme Archangel in Heaven, leaving a heartbroken Crowley behind. Now tasked with overseeing the Second Coming — an event with implications for the fate of all existence — Aziraphale must grapple with the weight of his new responsibilities while the fractured bond between the two central characters hangs over everything. The official trailer, released in April 2026, confirms that both leads return, with their millennia-long relationship at the center of the story.

Alongside Sheen and Tennant, returning cast members include Doon Mackichan as Michael, Gloria Obianyo as Uriel, Liz Carr as Saraqael, Paul Chahidi as Sandalphon, Quelin Sepulveda as Muriel, and Derek Jacobi as The Metatron. Rob Wilkins of Narrativia, representing Terry Pratchett’s estate, and BBC Studios Comedy’s Chief Creative Officer Josh Cole serve as executive producers alongside Talalay.

The road to this finale has been marked by significant behind-the-scenes turmoil. Good Omens Season 3 was originally greenlit in December 2023 as a full six-episode season, with Neil Gaiman — the co-author of the original novel alongside the late Terry Pratchett, and the series’ showrunner — set to lead the production. In July 2024, multiple allegations of sexual assault and misconduct were made against Gaiman, which he has denied. By October 2024, Prime Video confirmed that Gaiman had exited the production. The planned six-episode season was subsequently restructured into a single 90-minute episode to provide narrative closure while adapting to the changed creative circumstances.

Principal photography proceeded in Scotland beginning in January 2025, consistent with the schedule Gaiman had confirmed ahead of his departure. Director Rachel Talalay, who has spoken publicly about reshaping the material into a tighter concluding format, and co-writer Peter Atkins worked to preserve the intended Season 3 storyline and elements from a planned but unpublished sequel novel.

In the United Kingdom, the finale will also air on BBC, consistent with how both previous seasons were distributed in Britain. Season 1 premiered in May 2019, and Season 2 aired in July 2023. For viewers wishing to rewatch ahead of the finale, both seasons remain available on Prime Video.
