Nikola Jokic once again proved why he is the heartbeat of the Denver Nuggets, delivering a dominant performance in a thrilling 130–124 win over the Sacramento Kings on Monday night at Ball Arena. The reigning Finals MVP recorded a new season-high with 34 points while filling the stat sheet with 14 assists, seven rebounds, four steals, and two blocks.
From the opening tip, the Nuggets controlled the pace, maintaining their lead throughout the game. Jokic’s efficiency around the rim, his precise mid-range touch, and flawless court vision guided Denver to its fourth win of the young season, improving their record to 4–2.
After the game, Jokic reflected on the team’s growth and discipline, particularly in limiting turnovers. “We had a couple of careless ones at the end,” he said. “Just simple things hold your spot, meet the ball, and avoid the risky passes. Those details matter.”
Denver’s offense clicked on all levels. Christian Braun scored 21 points and grabbed four rebounds, while Aaron Gordon added 20 points and seven boards. Jamal Murray contributed 15 points and seven assists, orchestrating the offense with his usual control. Bruce Brown’s 13 points off the bench provided an extra spark when the Kings began to close the gap.
For Sacramento, Domantas Sabonis delivered a strong showing despite the loss, finishing with 13 points, 17 rebounds, and five assists. Dennis Schroder chipped in 18 points and nine assists while battling right hip soreness. The Kings stayed competitive through three quarters before Denver’s composure and depth proved too much to overcome.
Off the bench, Jonas Valanciunas logged nearly 12 minutes for the Nuggets, adding eight points, three rebounds, two blocks, and a steal. His presence reinforced Denver’s defensive front in key moments.
Meanwhile, the Lakers managed a separate 123–115 win over the Portland Trail Blazers, even without Luka Dončić, who sat out due to a lower left leg contusion. Despite Deni Avdija’s 33-point effort, Portland could not close the gap late in the game.
The victory over Sacramento showcased Jokic’s full repertoire dominance in the paint, unselfish playmaking, and unmatched basketball IQ. His leadership underlined why the Nuggets continue to thrive with him at the center of their system.
Denver now looks ahead to its next challenge against the Miami Heat on November 6, as Jokic and the defending champions aim to build on their strong early-season form.
