The Sacramento Kings have reached an agreement with free agent forward and center Precious Achiuwa, according to multiple reports released on November 4, 2025. The 26 year old big man last played for the New York Knicks during the 2024 to 2025 NBA season. The signing was first reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania.
While official contract details have not yet been revealed, NBA insider Jake Fischer noted on November 3 that Sacramento had expressed strong interest in Achiuwa. The versatile forward participated in the Miami Heat’s 2025 training camp before being waived in October. To open a roster spot, the Kings released second year forward Isaac Jones.
The addition of Achiuwa comes at a crucial time for the Kings, who have struggled early in the season with rebounding and frontcourt depth. The team ranks last in the league in rebounds per game and has been searching for help following starting forward Keegan Murray’s wrist surgery, which sidelined him indefinitely.
Achiuwa’s arrival gives Sacramento a much needed boost alongside All Star center Domantas Sabonis. While Sabonis remains one of the league’s premier rebounders, the team’s overall performance on the glass has dipped without Murray. Achiuwa’s energy, athleticism, and defensive versatility are expected to strengthen the team’s rotation immediately. Known for his relentless motor and ability to guard multiple positions, he provides the kind of switchable defense the Kings have been missing.
Achiuwa’s strength on the offensive boards should also complement Sacramento’s up tempo style. His presence will allow Sabonis to operate more freely in playmaking situations while giving the team a second interior presence capable of running the floor and defending at a high level.
Career Overview
Precious Achiuwa entered the NBA as the 20th overall pick in the 2020 draft, selected by the Miami Heat. After one season in Miami, he was traded to the Toronto Raptors in 2021, where he spent three years developing into a reliable rotation player. In 2023, he was dealt to the New York Knicks, where he completed the 2023 to 2024 season and remained for the 2024 to 2025 campaign. Following a brief stint back with Miami during training camp in 2025, he became a free agent before landing with Sacramento.
2024 to 2025 Season Performance
During his time with the Knicks last season, Achiuwa appeared in 57 games, including 10 starts. He averaged 6.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.0 assist per game while shooting 50.2 percent from the field. His minutes and production increased significantly when frontcourt injuries forced him into a larger role, particularly during stretches when Mitchell Robinson was unavailable.
The Kings’ signing of Achiuwa is both a short term reinforcement and a potential long term investment in depth and defensive reliability. With Sacramento off to a mixed start and facing lineup challenges, Achiuwa’s combination of toughness and effort could prove critical in helping the team regain its balance in the Western Conference.
