Stephen Curry Secures One-Year Extension With Golden State Worth $62.6 Million

The Golden State Warriors have confirmed that Stephen Curry will remain in the Bay Area a little longer, signing a one-year contract extension valued at $62.6 million. The deal keeps him with the franchise through the 2026–27 season.

According to league figures, Curry is now guaranteed approximately $178 million over the next three years. When his current agreement concludes, his career basketball earnings will stand at $532 million, second only to LeBron James, whose total reaches $580 million.

A Summer of Triumph

At 36 years old, Curry has added another milestone to his decorated career. This past summer, he played a decisive role in leading Team USA to a gold medal at the Paris Olympics. In the final against France, he delivered a crucial fourth-quarter performance that sealed victory for his country.

Curry already holds the distinction of being the NBA’s all-time leader in made three-pointers. Across 15 seasons, all spent with Golden State, he has collected back-to-back MVP awards in 2015 and 2016, the latter by unanimous vote—the only such instance in league history. His résumé also includes four championships, the most recent in 2022 when he captured his first Finals MVP.

Turning Toward a New Chapter

Despite Curry’s brilliance, the Warriors ended last season with disappointment after failing to advance past the Play-In tournament. This summer brought further change with Klay Thompson departing in free agency, ending the long-running “Splash Brothers” era.

Golden State is now reshaping its identity, retaining Curry and Draymond Green as veteran anchors while developing its young core. Jonathan Kuminga, Brandin Podziemski, and Trayce Jackson-Davis are expected to take on greater roles as the team moves forward.

The next few seasons will test how long Curry can keep defying time and whether he can guide the Warriors into a new era of contention.
